What To Do Until We Arrive

  1. Call 000 if anyone is hurt or in danger. That includes an electric shock, a fire, or powerlines down. Stay well clear of fallen powerlines (at least 8 metres).
  2. Switch off at the switchboard, if it’s safe. Turn off the affected circuit, or the main switch. Don’t touch anything that is sparking, wet or scorched.
  3. Check whether it’s just your property. If the whole street is out, it’s likely a network outage. Check your electricity distributor’s outage page.
  4. Unplug sensitive appliances so they aren’t damaged when power comes back.
